Coach Abi is owner and Head Coach of Apostle Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Sierra Vista, Arizona. He is a Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) and a National Registered Emergency Medical Technican (NREMT), and currently holds a 3rd stripe brown belt in BJJ under Professor Francis Blesa and Professor Andres Briceno both who are Jay Pages Black Belts. Coach Abi brings over 12 years of Martial Arts/MMA experience with over 10 years of instructing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) to the general public, current and retired Law Enforcement Officers and Military personnel.
Having competed in several Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments placing 1st and 2nd in several, he is a shinning example of the catch phrase "Always Learning" having attended several seminars with world renown, world champion grapplers and practitioners. Coach Abi has attended several courses of Jiu-Jitsu Combative and Conditioning for Combative (C4C) to further his knowledge of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Self Defense) and holds several free self defense seminars for his LEO partners and local community.
Among the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community he is known for his unique way of teaching children and teenagers; incorporating teaching through play for his little samurai’s (ages 5-10yr) and simplicity in words and relativeness when teaching techniques, terminology and positioning of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to his teen samurai (ages 11-16yr) Coach Abi’s unique way not only keeps engagement among students high but also enhances understanding which enables focus and progression. His dedication to spreading his passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu through teaching embodies the Greek word apóstolos (Apostle).
